AI Query Interface
Ask ACOS 20 predefined business questions across profitability, cash flow, team, pipeline, and projects — no natural-language typing required, just click a question and get a data-driven answer instantly.
What It Is
The AI Query Interface (Ask ACOS) is a set of 20 predefined, deterministic queries against your real operational data — not a freeform chat with an LLM. Each question runs a fixed calculation and returns a structured result: a ranked list, a bar chart, or a set of summary numbers.
The 5 Categories
| Category | # Queries | Example question |
|---|---|---|
| Profitability | 5 | “Which projects were most profitable?” |
| Cash Flow | 4 | “How much money am I owed right now?” |
| Team | 3 | “Who is overloaded next week?” |
| Pipeline | 4 | “Where do my best deals come from?” |
| Projects | 4 | “Which projects have gone over estimated hours?” |
Running a Query
Open the Ask ACOS tab
Filter by category using the pills, or leave it on All to see every question grouped by category.
Set a period, if the question needs one
Some questions support This month, This quarter, This year, or Last 12 months. Questions that don't need a time window skip the period selector entirely.
Click Run
The result appears inline below the question, expanded by default.
Result Caching
Each query result is cached per organization, per query, and per parameter combination (e.g. same question + same period) for one hour. Re-opening a question you already ran within that hour returns the cached answer instantly and does not count against your daily quota. Click the refresh icon on an already-run question to force a fresh calculation.
Daily Limit
Each organization gets 50 non-cached query runs per day, shared across everyone in the org — it's not a per-user allowance. A warning banner appears once you have 10 or fewer runs left for the day.
Cached hits are free. If your team keeps re-opening the same handful of questions, you'll rarely approach the daily limit — it's designed to bound the cost of genuinely new calculations, not routine re-checking.
Access
The AI Query Interface is available on the Growth and Scale plans. Starter and Free organizations see a locked tab with an upgrade prompt instead.
FAQ
Can I write my own custom question?
Not yet. The interface is limited to the 20 predefined questions in the catalogue. Freeform natural-language querying is on the roadmap for a later AI phase.
Does running a query send my data to a third-party AI model?
No. These are deterministic database queries computed inside ACOS, not LLM calls — nothing is sent to an external AI provider to answer them.
What happens when I hit the daily limit?
Any new (non-cached) query returns an error telling you the daily limit was reached and to try again tomorrow. Already-cached results from earlier in the day remain viewable.
Why don't all questions have a period selector?
Some questions are inherently point-in-time — like current outstanding receivables — so a historical period wouldn't change the answer. Those skip the period control entirely.
